Parentesi nell'operatore

Salve,
ho un errore in questa riga: 
 if (GPS_buff[i+14+y] != ',' & GPS_buff[i+23+y] != ',')
L'errore è:
suggest parentheses around comparison in operand of '&' [-Wparentheses]

Ma come devo mettere le parentesi??
